Waterbabies (Parent must be in the water)
Waterbabies is a class for babies age 6 months to 35 months old. Fun songs and aquatic activities increase confidence while the babies learn to submerge comfortably with 8-10 second breath control. Since the early 1970s, Emler Waterbabies swim lessons have successfully taught babies with their parents in the water. Swim lessons packed with techniques that really work are the result of 40 years of tweaking and improving all along the way.
Unlike our programs at Emler, other baby swim programs suffer from two extremes. Some baby swim lessons just play around in the water and don’t actually teach babies to swim. Other swim lessons teach babies to swim with traumatic teaching techniques. Emler Swim School teaches swimming in a warm and loving environment with effective, time tested techniques.
Waterbabies+ (Parent must be in the water)
Waterbabies+ is a class for babies age six months to 35 months old who can already submerge comfortably for 8-10 seconds. Babies are challenged to be more independent in a fun environment, and to move three feet through the water. This level is taught with the Waterbabies level. Emler employs a delicate balance at this level between allowing enough independence for babies to embrace swimming as transportation, but not allowing babies to struggle in the water, appearing to fight for survival.
The professional Waterbabies teacher at Emler will help guide parents so that they don’t hold the baby so close he can’t experience buoyancy and swimming. The Waterbabies teacher is also careful to help the parent develop emotional security in the water so the baby avoids fear and unhappiness.
Advanced Waterbabies (Parent must be in the water)
Advanced Waterbabies is a class for babies age six months to 35 months old who can already kick three feet through the water. Little ones are challenged to be more confident in a fun environment and are the veterans of the Waterbabies class. The results are increased confidence while the they learn to jump in, kick independently through the water and exit the pool.
Advanced Waterbabies is a very exciting level of swim lessons as babies learn to enter the water, kick a distance of 5 feet and exit the pool independently. sGraduates from Advanced Waterbabies are known to draw a crowd when they swim in public. People cannot believe that a young baby can swim so well!
Super Waterbabies (Parent needs to be in the water for the first 3 weeks)
Super Waterbabies is a class for two year olds who can already move five feet through the water. Super Waterbabies are - for the first time - in class with a teacher while their parents are outside the water. Parents - who watch lessons from benches beside the pool - are enlisted as cheerleaders and water watchers for this very entertaining class of little swimmers.
Toddlers are challenged to increase their distance to seven feet and learn the safety skill of a sitting Jump, Turn and Swim.
X-treme Waterbabies (Parent need NOT be in the water)
X-treme Waterbabies is a class for two year olds who can already move seven feet through the water. Once again, these babies are in class with a teacher, while their parents are outside the water. Parents - who watch lessons from benches beside the pool - are enlisted as cheerleaders and water watchers for this highest level of tiny swimmers at Emler Swim School.
Toddlers are challenged to increase their swim distance to ten feet. They are introduced to rollover breathing, and how to master the safety skill of a standing Jump, Turn and Swim.
